LEADERS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Committed to best practices in early childhood education, The Priory is a place where children are encouraged to be children, where childhood is cherished, and where meaningful learning takes place in a nurturing and caring environment. Excellence in teaching and an enthusiasm for learning are at the heart of the school’s mission. According to Headmaster Christian St-Pierre, “at our school, we recognize that children learn because it is rewarding, interesting, fun, and gives them a sense of pride. The most important indication of The Priory’s success is the genuine love that students have for learning, for coming to school, and for each other.”

With a firm belief that children excel when provided with small group learning opportunities, The Priory’s class schedules allow for instruction in groups of 12 students to take place throughout the day. The school’s strength in small numbers provides small group learning situations in Math, French, English Language Arts, Visual Arts, and project based learning, addressing each student’s individual strengths and interests. This teacher student relationship in small sizes enables students to be engaged as they actively construct their own understanding and knowledge of the world, through problem solving and reflecting on their experiences. Only a small school can promote the prosocial and academic skills that certify success and confidence for every student. Our small class sizes ensure that each student's individual academic and social needs are met.

The Priory provides diverse opportunities for all students to flourish. The curriculum is not confined to the classroom, and varied activities are organized, allowing students to further develop social and cooperative skills and self-confidence. Some of the school’s enriched opportunities include, Band and Mentorship programs, Student Leadership celebrations, Athletic Teams and Tournaments, STEAM/Makerfaire, and Drama and Theatre Clubs. Our strong student participation is a clear indication that our students are engaged, enthusiastic, and motivated to keep learning.
